How to Know When God Is Leading You Into Something New
Have you ever felt a gentle stirring inside that says, "Something is changing," but you're not exactly sure what? Maybe you've outgrown your current season. Maybe a door is closing, or perhaps God is opening opportunities that seem both exciting and intimidating. Many women reach a point where they sense that God is doing something new, but they struggle to discern whether it's truly Him leading or simply their own desires.
The good news is that God doesn't lead His children into confusion. Isaiah 43:19 says, "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?" When God initiates a new season, He often begins by creating holy discomfort with the old one. What once satisfied you no longer fulfills you. What once seemed clear may now feel uncertain.
One sign God is leading you into something new is that He begins expanding your vision. You start seeing possibilities you hadn't considered before. Another sign is that He gives you an increasing desire for growth. You may feel drawn to develop new skills, pursue a different path, or step into a calling that's been sitting quietly in your heart for years.
A third sign is that God begins aligning circumstances, relationships, and opportunities. While challenges may still exist, there is often a sense of divine orchestration. Things begin coming together in ways you could not have planned yourself.
However, discernment is essential. Not every new opportunity is God's opportunity. That's why prayer, Scripture, and wise counsel remain critical. God will never lead you contrary to His Word. His direction may stretch you, but it will always draw you closer to Him.
If you're uncertain about your next step, don't rush. Take time to pray. Ask God for wisdom. Write down what He's been placing on your heart. Pay attention to recurring themes, desires, and opportunities. Often, clarity comes one step at a time rather than all at once.
Remember, God is more committed to guiding you than you are to finding the right path. Trust Him. The same God who opened doors in the past is faithfully leading you into your future.
